Meta's latest quarterly report shows Facebook has more than 3 billion monthly active users, as reported by the Tech Crunch page, Thursday local time.
That's a pretty astonishing number despite Facebook's declining popularity among young people.
Across the Meta family of apps including WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and now Threads, there are 3.88 billion monthly active users. That's almost half of the world's population.
Daily active Facebook users also continue to grow. It recorded 2.064 billion daily active users, up from 2.037 billion last quarter. That growth is especially important, because in the final quarter of 2021, Facebook reported its first-ever quarterly decline in daily active users.
This growth could be driven in part by Reels, the TikTok copycat feature that Meta is heavily pushing on Instagram and Facebook. According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Reels gets 200 billion plays per day across its suite of apps, while Threads hit 100 million users in five days with 10 million people returning each day.
“I think we have the most exciting roadmap ahead that I've seen in a while. "We are seeing unprecedented growth, and more importantly, we are seeing more people returning every day than I expected," Zuckerberg said.
