Deputy III of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) Sulistyo said that cryptographic independence is the main key to creating strong national cyber resilience and supporting Indonesia's 2045 digital transformation vision so that it can run optimally.

He further said that this was in line with the regulatory basis that had just been passed by the President, namely Presidential Regulation number 47 of 2023 concerning the National Cyber Security Strategy and Cyber Crisis Management.

"When compared with national security strategy regulations in various other countries, there is something different about the regulations in Indonesia, namely building national cryptographic independence. This was deliberately presented to become the core of cyber security in the future to oversee Indonesia's digital transformation in the future. 2045," said Sulistyo in Jakarta, Monday.

On the website of the technology company Amazon Web Services (AWS) cryptography refers to the practice of protecting information through the use of codes, hashes, and signature algorithms.

In building national resilience, Sulistyo said that BSSN is preparing for cryptographic independence, meaning building a cryptographic ecosystem that is more capable of using local resources and is no longer dependent on foreign domination.

There are four steps prepared to realize the ideal of national cryptographic independence, namely establishing a national cryptographic policy, fulfilling talents in the field of cryptography, increasing research and innovation in the field of cryptography, and finally applying cryptography in the field of cryptography. industry.

To determine the national cryptography policy, BSSN will prepare one of the Code Draft Laws (RUU) in the hope of determining the direction of development and limitations of the application of cryptography on a national scale.

Furthermore, in order to fulfill talents in the field of cryptography, BSSN wants to encourage the creation of more specialist talents and cryptography engineers.

The third step is strengthening the research sector which is expected to be created more through cross-institutional collaboration, such as with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and with universities in Indonesia.

Finally, the application of cryptography in industry is a form of realization of the three previous points in order to create more capable electronic system security in Indonesia.

"These four important points are also stated in Presidential Decree number 47 of 2023, the implementation of which must involve various parties, namely the government, private sector, academics and the community," he concluded.
