Google Tests Floating Keyboard Feature in Gboard

Google is reportedly testing a floating keyboard feature when the cellphone display is in landscape position via their application, namely Gboard.

This feature was tested in the beta version of Gboard, namely version 13.6, and the floating keyboard will automatically appear when the user starts typing in landscape position.

Report 9 to 5 Google, Friday (10/11) local time stated that this feature was presented based on the aspect ratio on today's large cellphones.

In landscape orientation, the QWERTY keyboard often fills the screen itself, leaving only a few lines of text visible, but with the alternative of a floating keyboard, this will allow users to have a wider display when used.

When you are a Gboard user using this feature, the keyboard will appear in the middle, but the user can drag it anywhere according to the most comfortable position.

Gboard will remember its location and when the user uses it again, the keyboard will be in the position it was last used.

Apart from that, this floating keyboard also has the ability to adjust the display size from the corners so that the size of the display can be adjusted by the user.

To return to the regular display keyboard, users can tap the “Floating” shortcut or drag the keyboard to the bottom edge of the screen. After that, Gboard will no longer open its floating mode when in landscape.

It is not yet known when this feature will be released in the stable version, but for those of you who are interested, maybe you can download the Gboard application on your smartphone.
