The cellular operator part of the State-Owned Enterprise Telkom Group, Telkomsel, achieved high scores including for internet speed at the Ookla Speedtest Award for the period January – June 2023.
"This recognition is the real result of Telkomsel's hard work and dedication in providing the best digital connectivity experience for all customers," said Telkomsel Marketing Director Derrick Heng in a press statement, Tuesday.
Telkomsel, among others, achieved high scores in the Best Mobile Network, Best Mobile Coverage, Fastest Mobile Network, Top-Rated Mobile Network, Best Mobile Video Experience and Best Mobile Gaming Experience categories.
Telkomsel confirmed its position in the Best Mobile Coverage category with a score of 887. In this category, Telkomsel is assessed as an operator that has even infrastructure coverage and is able to provide reliable connectivity, even in areas with geographical challenges, where around 98 percent of customers are served by a 4G broadband network/ LTE Telkomsel.
Meanwhile, for the Fastest Cellular Network category, Telkomsel has the highest broadband access speed in Indonesia with a score of 35.33 which provides an average download speed of 26.74 Mbps and upload speed of 12.98 Mbps. The best achievements in these two categories placed Telkomsel as the Best Cellular Network for the third time, confirming Telkomsel's consistency as a connectivity player capable of providing the fastest connections with the widest network coverage in Indonesia.
Telkomsel also achieved a high score in the Best Mobile Video Experience category with a score of 69.92. Telkomsel ensures that customers can enjoy video content smoothly via a broadband network with advanced technology that is reliable and high quality.
In the Best Mobile Gaming Experience category with a score of 76.45, Telkomsel shows that customers experience quality mobile games supported by stable connections and low latency.
In the Top-Rated Mobile Network category with a rating of 3.8, Telkomsel is ranked first as the most popular operator among Indonesian people.
Telkomsel Network Director Nugroho said this achievement made them continue to progress in improving reliable, fast and even digital connectivity capabilities through breakthrough innovations that utilize the latest technology.
In the middle of this year, Telkomsel completed network migration from 3G to 4G in 504 districts/cities. Apart from that, Telkomsel has also deployed 420 BTS with the latest 5G broadband technology which is consistently being expanded in stages throughout Indonesia.
Telkomsel currently has around 228,000 BTS covering more than 96 percent of Indonesia's population.
