Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi asked the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) to support the government through concrete efforts to eradicate online gambling in society.

Budi asked APJII to participate in eradicating negative content that is related to online gambling or what is commonly known as slot gambling.

"I ask for full support from all APJII members to take all forms of concrete efforts to prevent and stop the spread of negative content on the internet, especially online gambling and slot gambling," said Budi in Surakarta, Central Java, Tuesday.

Budi made this request when he was one of the speakers in the 2023 APJII National Working Meeting series.

He said that under his leadership, eradicating online gambling had become a serious matter that needed to be handled so that more members of Indonesian society would not become victims.

In terms of terminating access, the Ministry of Communication and Information noted that from August 1 to September 23 2023, it had cut off access to 126,408 content containing online gambling content, both from websites and social media.
