MediaTek announced the release of the newest chipset from the Dimensity 8000 series, namely the Dimensity 8300, which is designed to be power efficient for premium 5G smartphones.

“Dimensity 8300 opens up new possibilities for the premium smartphone segment, offering AI in users' hands, hyper-realistic entertainment opportunities, and seamless connectivity—without sacrificing savings,” MediaTek Wireless Communications Business Unit Deputy General Manager Yenchi Lee said in a statement. in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Apart from that, the Dimensity 8300 chipset also offers generative AI capabilities, adaptive gaming technology, and fast connectivity for a more optimal experience, especially in the premium 5G smartphone segment.

With TSMC's 2nd generation 4nm technology, the Dimensity 8300 has an octa-core CPU with four Arm Cortex-A715 cores and four Cortex-A510 cores built on Arm's latest v9 CPU architecture. This configuration makes the Dimensity 8300 offer 20 percent faster CPU performance and experience a maximum power savings increase of 30 percent compared to the previous generation.

The Mali-G615 MC6 GPU upgrade on the Dimensity 8300 also provides up to 60 percent performance and 55 percent better power savings. The memory and storage speed of this chipset ensures users can enjoy a smooth and dynamic experience playing games, lifestyle applications, photography and more.

MediaTek's full generative AI support which was presented to the Dimensity 8300 for the first time in the Dimensity 8000 generation was successfully realized thanks to the AI APU 780 processor integrated into the chipset.

This enables Dimensity 8300 to support technology developers to build innovative applications that leverage large language models (LLM) up to 10B, as well as stable diffusion.

The APU 780 has the same architecture as the Dimensity 9300 SoC so it can produce a two-fold increase in INT and FP16 computing as well as a 3.3-fold increase in AI performance compared to the Dimensity 8200. This AI capability is combined with the MediaTek Imagiq HDR-ISP 14-bit 980, takes premium mobile photography and video recording to a new level.

Users will be able to record sharper and clearer video at 4K60 HDR, and record longer thanks to the Dimensity 8300's highly power-efficient design.

To further optimize battery life, MediaTek's next generation HyperEngine adaptive gaming technology also offers advanced power savings. Leveraging proprietary performance algorithms, Dimensity 8300 intelligently adapts to computing needs and monitors device temperature.

The system allows the device to stay cool while optimizing gameplay so users can enjoy full FPS, low lag, and smooth rendering. Dimensity 8300 is planned to support the launch of 5G devices in the global market before the end of 2023.
